For the 6th year in a row we are invited to set aside time between Ascension Day (26th May) and Pentecost (5th June) to pray that God’s Kingdom “might come, on earth as it is in heaven.” Its a familiar prayer and one that many people pray each day, but do we really mean it?
This has a special poignancy as we shall also be celebrating and giving thanks around this time for Her majesty The Queen’s 70 years on the throne of our country and commonwealth. Words spoken by the then Princess Elizabeth in 1947 remind us of our own calling to make God’s Kingdom known and a lived reality.
I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service… But I shall not have strength to carry out this resolution alone unless you join in it with me, as I now invite you to do: I know that your support will be unfailingly given. God help me to make good my vow, and God bless all of you who are willing to share in it.
To support you in this time of prayer the following have been produced
